• We submitted powerful objections, supported by informed and influential professional and national organisations.
• We organised a public petition which was signed by nearly eight hundred objectors.
• We secured from the Scottish Parliament independent safeguards on any proposals for development on this sensitive site.
• Regrettably, East Lothian Council displayed equal disregard for the views of informed objectors, public opinion, and the Scottish Parliament, and development has now begun.
• HADAS warned repeatedly of the destructive and potentially dangerous effects of forming the awkward access road beside the listed Waterloo Bridge. The folly of this can now be seen, before even a single house has been started. Traffic congestion will follow.
