In February of 1998 HADAS submitted a document to East Lothian Council, ‘HADAS Traffic Committee/ thoughts for a traffic study’.The study set out the Society's arguments concisely and was presented to the Council in April of 1998. It was intended as a primer to encourage dialogue, even participation. The survey was a comprehensive description of Haddington and the issues as we saw them as well as discussions on pollution, school safety, and the cumulative effect of planning applications on volumes.
The majority of this work was compiled by Andrew Steel a HADAS member.
East Lothian Council later commissioned the East Lothian Traffic & Environmental Survey 2002 to which HADAS contributed significantly.
