Activities
In encouraging an understanding and appreciation of the historic character of the central area of the County of East Lothian, including the settlements of Haddington, Gifford, Garvald, Athelstaneford, Humbie and East Linton), and in participating in decisions affecting it, the Society is active in the following ways :
- commenting on individual planning applications and policy statements when appropriate;
- organising meetings, talks and lectures (click on Current Programme)
- identifying, undertaking and supporting projects locally (click on Projects)
- preparing reports including Statements of Significance for towns and villages (click on Town/Village Statements)
- involvement in the strategic and local development planning processes through which policies affecting the area are approved and adopted
- meeting and working with local organisations with over-lapping interests (click on Useful Links)
- preparing regular newsletters (click on Newsletters)
